Local community leaders Sandra Easton, Mayor of the Town of Lincoln, and Derek Davy, CEO of Econse Water Technologies, both joined alongside Brock faculty members Samir Trabelsi, Professor of Accounting and Governance, and Liette Vasseur, Professor in Biology and Environment Sciences.

All panelists shared their personal insights on sustainability and the circular economy, delving into a number of subtopics from public policy and sustainability reporting to government-industry collaboration and creating a culture of sustainable entrepreneurship.

Teamwork in Organisations: a collaboration between ESB Business School, NC State University, and Université Côte d’Azur.

The collaboration between the three universities allows American students from diverse academic backgrounds to take 2-3-week courses in three European cities. The program’s structure facilitates a progressive learning journey, emphasising the significance of experiential learning and cultural immersion in shaping the leaders of tomorrow.

The journey at ESB Business School involved a 2-week intensive collaboration with German students from the Masters International Business Development (IBD) and International Accounting Controlling and Taxation (IACT).

The learning focused on the dynamics of Teamwork in Organizations: How do we work effectively in an interdependent and diverse world? How is it to work with others from different cultures? What are the different approaches to group work?

The vibrant learning ecosystem involved co-teaching and mentorship by Prof. Leigh Shamblin from NC State and Prof. Hazel Grünewald from ESB Business School. “Working in cross-functional, intercultural teams demands that individuals are open to different approaches and perspectives. We work with team charters, so individuals are forced to reflect upon their individual goals, values, strengths and weaknesses. These teams must find some degree of consensus concerning overarching aims and common values and honestly discuss strengths and weaknesses so that these can be leveraged or compensated for.” says Prof. Hazel Grünewald
