DCU Climbs In World Top 50
5th July 2013Dublin City University has been ranked in two new league tables of the world’s young universities (less than 50 years old).
The only university on the island of Ireland to be featured in the QS Top 50 Under 50, DCU has been placed 46th in this showcase of next-generation, leading universities, all established since 1962. It has also been placed 86th among the top one hundred young universities in the Times Higher Education 100 under 50.
The publication of these new league tables is noteworthy as most university rankings favour older institutions with an established brand and a vast alumni body developed over centuries. A ranking of new and emerging universities creates a level playing field among those still developing a global reputation and identifies the next generation of university powerhouses.
DCU has also risen in the 2012/2013 QS World University Rankings for the second year running, the only Irish university to do so. DCU climbed two places and is one of only three Irish universities to have achieved an increased rating in this prestigious world rankings table.
