Together, we are creating new opportunities for academic excellence, cultural exchange, and international career development.
We are glad to say that last week’s event was a great success, and we have more pictures and stories incoming.
The IPBS semi-annual meetings are “The Event” for the Program Directors, Student Council, and other various students and staff to come together and connect.
A great opportunity to create and strengthen bonds, reflect on the past and discuss the future.

Can Europe be more competitive without giving up financial stability? That is one of the big questions that will mark the European economic future.
For this reason, Comillas ICADE and CECA have launched the first Chair of Banking Regulation in Spain, a pioneering space to analyse, with academic rigour and evidence, how regulation impacts the financing of companies and families, the competitiveness of the financial sector and economic growth.
The presentation brought together representatives of the European Commission, the Ministry of Economy and some of the country’s main financial institutions. The closing speech was given by Luis de Guindos, who highlighted the strength of European banks in terms of profitability, liquidity and solvency, while defending progress in financial integration and completing the Banking Union.
💡 Because behind concepts such as the digital euro, banking regulation or the single market there is a question that affects us all: how to build a stronger, more innovative European economy capable of competing in an increasingly demanding global scenario. 👉 Read the full story: https://brnw.ch/21x6fSx

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲?
Dr. Simone Jacobi, ESB alumna of BSc International Management Double Degree, came back to ESB to give students a glimpse behind the scenes at McKinsey: From case interviews and career choices to AI and the changing nature of consulting.
One message stood out: In an interview, “we don’t want to hear what you practice. We want to see you think.” Don’t rehearse your answers until they sound perfect. Listen carefully to the questions of the Interviewer. They will interrupt on purpose, to find out what really happened: they want to hear about how you navigated difficult situations because this way you can demonstrate your maximum potential.
Dr. Simone Jacobi also emphasized that there is no perfect case solution. Interviewers want you to problem solve the specific client situation at hand and not present any frameworks that you have learned by heart.
The same applies to AI. As AI takes over more tasks, critical thinking becomes more, not less, important. The skill is no longer just finding an answer but knowing whether the answer is the right fit for the problem at hand.
And perhaps that is the bigger lesson from the conversation:
the value of your education is not how many answers you can remember,
but how well you can think when there is no answer yet.

University and business – working together for transformation in the Neckar-Alb 🤝 region
At the round table “Transformation and Innovation in the Region” organized by IHK Reutlingen and Reutlingen University of Applied Sciences, we discussed with representatives of regional companies what is currently moving companies – and where we can start together.
We take away three central messages:
🔹 More courage to implement: There are plenty of ideas – the decisive factor is to put them into practice. Especially with AI and digitalization, this means trying things out, allowing mistakes and learning from them.
🔹 Making collaboration easier: Companies want uncomplicated access to university and more visibility for the wide range of opportunities for cooperation – for example, in theses, practical projects and further education.
🔹 Skills beyond specialist knowledge: According to the IHK survey, communication skills (81%) and the ability to work in a team (80%) are particularly important for companies.
For us, it is clear that we want to continue this dialogue – in the triad of university, company and IHK. Because transformation succeeds best together. Many thanks to all participants for the open and constructive exchange!
