The “Pack” is Back!
23rd May 2018The “Wolf Pack” is the nickname of the athletic teams representing North Carolina State University (NCSU) and for the sixth year in a row, ESB Business School’s BSc International Management Double-Degree program (IMX) is hosting a six week summer school for 28 students from NCSU. The students are accompanied by 2 professors and a staff member from NCSU. They have a compact program that includes Concepts of Financial Reporting, Financial Management, which are taught by NCSU professors Helmut Hergeth and Richard Barnes as well as a history and current issues course about the European Union that is taught by EU expert Mr. Nils Bunjes from the Europazentrum and Emeriti Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Baumeister.
The group arrived on May 17th and the program officially began on May 18th. Julie Dengler, Program Coordinator for IMX German-American/Mexican links and Brian Peters, Senior Academic Advisor from NCSU, helped get the students settled into their new surroundings. They were given an introduction to Reutlingen University by Udo Stelzer and Julie Dengler that included a campus tour, lunch in the cafeteria, a city tour of Reutlingen and dinner at a local restaurant.
On Sunday, May 20th, the group was introduced to Tübingen. They seemed to enjoy the scenic guided tour, punting boat ride and dinner at the Neckarmüller. They were joined by several ESB German students who will be spending 2 years in the double-degree program at NCSU and were able to exchange tips about living in Germany vs. America with each other over their meal.
Besides attending lectures in Reutlingen, they will also visit cultural sites including a local brewery, Heidelberg, Dachau, Rüdesheim, Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart and several companies including Daimler, Stoll, EY, Design Offices & Nora Systems.
For many of the students it is the first time they have travelled outside of the United States of America. Many of them are still facing culture shock, but they are also enjoying their free time with many travel options at their doorstep. We wish all of them an enjoyable time in Germany and on their travels throughout Europe!
