Times Higher Education Award for Lancaster’s “innovation success story”

Lancaster University has won the Knowledge Exchange/Transfer Initiative of the Year Award in the Times Higher Education Awards 2025.

There were more than 500 entries overall in 21 categories with the winners announced at a ceremony held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

Lancaster’s winning entry was for “Quantum Base Q-ID®: Setting a New Global Standard in Anti-Counterfeiting Technology Through Physics Knowledge Exchange”. Quantum Base became Lancaster University’s first spin-out company to float on London’s AIM market earlier this year, raising £4.8 million through an Initial Public Offering (IPO).

For the 20^th year, Elon University has been recognized as a national leader in study abroad in the Institute of International Education’s annual Open Doors Report. Elon is ranked #1 in the percentage of undergraduate students who participate in study abroad among doctoral universities, based on data from the 2023-24 academic year.

Presentation of the second edition of “Women in Finance” at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore

The second edition of “Women in Finance” was presented yesterday, Wednesday 19 November, in Milan: the program born from the will of Rector Elena Beccalli and conceived by the Faculty of Banking, Financial and Insurance Sciences as a space for growth for students to develop skills, compare themselves with professionals in the financial sector and approach paths that integrate training, orientation and direct contact with the world of work.

The meeting saw speeches by Raffaella Iafrate, Rector’s Delegate for Equal Opportunities, Professor Ivana Pais, President of the University-World of Work Committee, and Professor Giovanni Petrella, Dean of the Faculty of Banking, Financial and Insurance Sciences of the Catholic University.

On mid-November the official Kickoff of the 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 (𝗟𝗧𝗔) took place at ESB Business School, Reutlingen University, a significant start to a new chapter in developing future leaders!

Dr. Philipp B. Bocks, board member of the Karl Schlecht Stiftung (𝗞𝗦𝗚), gave the opening speech, sharing insights into the vision of Karl Schlecht, the foundation’s founder, and the broad scope of KSG’s work. He warmly welcomed us to the Leadership Talent Academy family, alongside the academies at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), UnternehmerTUM, Campus Founders, and the University of Tübingen.

Elon University has once again been recognized by the Institute of International Education for the highest percentage rate of study abroad participation in the nation.

For the 20^th year, Elon University has been recognized as a national leader in study abroad in the Institute of International Education’s annual Open Doors Report. Elon is ranked #1 in the percentage of undergraduate students who participate in study abroad among doctoral universities, based on data from the 2023-24 academic year.

Lancaster University receives nation’s highest education honour

Lancaster University has been awarded a Queen Elizabeth Prize for Education for its pioneering work that is helping to drive a global transformation in digital literacy.

The nation’s highest education honour is awarded to Lancaster University for its creation and development of core technology for the BBC micro:bit, a pocket-sized programmable computer.

Through the efforts of many partners including the not-for-profit Micro:bit Educational Foundation, the micro:bit has empowered 66 million children in 85 countries – around 2% of all children on the planet – to become coders and technology creators.

The Queen Elizabeth Prizes for Higher and Further Education are part of the UK national honours system, recognising outstanding work in universities and colleges at the highest level.

Lancaster University is among 19 prize-winners announced at a reception at St James’s Palace in London. A formal presentation ceremony will take place next year.
