How digital storytelling can support families of very ill children.

Digital storytelling can aid families of children in palliative care to capture and preserve valuable moments and memories.

Piece by Prof Veronica Lambert and Dr Razieh Safarifard from DCU’s School of Nursing, Psychotherapy and Community Health DCU Faculty of Science and Health for RTE Brainstorm. ‘Imagine a family gathered around a young child’s bed at home or in the hospital, facing the heart-wrenching reality that their time together is limited. The moments they share now – the stories told, songs sung, laughter, and tears – are more precious than ever. But how can these memories be preserved, not just for the present but for a lifetime?’

‘Memory-making activities provide a way to capture these moments, offering comfort during and after their journey through palliative care. In Ireland, the need for such interventions is growing, as more children live with life-threatening conditions and families often find themselves without adequate support in these difficult times. Our new project addresses this gap with a digital storytelling memory-making programme tailored to the unique cultural and practical needs of Irish families.’ Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e3DVzVFC

On Friday 17 January, NEOMA hosted the 7th edition of the “Continuum Day” organised by the APHEC and the HEADway Advisory firm on its Rouen campus.

🔎What is the Continuum?  A major challenge for the training of students, it aims to facilitate the transition between the preparatory class and the Grande Ecole in terms of methodology and the disciplines taught.

3 highlights to get inspired and think together:

1️⃣ Introductory speeches by Alain Joyeux, President of APHEC and Delphine Manceau, Chief Executive Officer of NEOMA

👉 A positive assessment of the attractiveness of preparatory classes to young people. Alain Joyeux highlighted the increase in numbers in 2024, the result of “actions carried out jointly by the CDEFM – Conférence des Directeurs des Écoles Françaises de Management, the APHEC and the Schools”, with the hashtag#PREPARETOI campaign as a highlight.
👉These developments are being carried out in a favourable context. Delphine Manceau, CEO of NEOMA, reiterated her attachment to the Continuum and stressed the importance of “leading changes when things are going well, which are always times conducive to reflection and working together.”
👉An attractiveness that is reflected in reality. With an increase in the number of people registered for the competition in 2024, “the preparatory classes are attractive, the candidates are there,” says Delphine Manceau.

2️⃣ 7 workshops bringing together Grandes Ecoles de Management, preparatory class teachers and students explored several concrete avenues to strengthen this continuum by working on strong themes: the impact of AI on new pedagogies, the integration of climate issues into courses, student well-being, social openness, the evolution of competitive examinations, etc.

3️⃣ A round table, composed of experts from the world’s major university systems, was inspired by best practices thanks to their view of international systems of excellence.

🎉 StudyCheck Award 2025: Top-ranked in Germany 🎉

Reutlingen University is a frontrunner in this year’s StudyCheck Award, the independent university ranking of Germany’s largest university evaluation portal. Reutlingen University and its five schools – including ESB Business School – received two awards:

🥇 1st place in the Category Award for medium-sized universities and
🥈 2nd place in the Germany-wide comparison of all universities.

💡 Our students and alumni have been busy ranking our programmes on StudyCheck as well. Here are a few things they had to say about their ESB experience:

📚 “ESB excels in areas often overlooked by generic rankings: the quality of teaching and preparation for professional life. This is what makes it so special in my eyes.”

👩‍🎓 “From my experience, you are never let down here. The professors are very friendly and helpful, and your fellow students often approach you and are open to any questions.”

📊 For the StudyCheck Award 2025, StudyCheck analysed around 84,000 student evaluations from 2024. The ranking is determined by the so-called score value that is formed by the star rating (1-5 stars) and the recommendation rate (0-100%).
